♪ The Everlasting Now: The Living Archive is now open

Welcome to the Mosaic!
Step through the front door and you'll find a welcoming lobby, with views of all the paintings, quilts, photographs, films, poems, jewelry and memories that participants brought to the 2026 museum in North Minneapolis. Each card opens onto a page for each contributor: their art, their story, and the Prince song that belongs to it.
The People's Museum tells a collective story about Prince Rogers Nelson through the people whose lives he touched. This year we presented three exhibitions, Way Back Home: Prince and North Minneapolis at Roberts Gallery, Let's Work! A Labor of Love at the Capri Theater and No One in the Whole Universe Will Ever Compare at ColorWheel Gallery, with contributors from North Minneapolis to Melbourne. The archive gathers the contributions in one place, and will continue to grow.
Ways in:
Walk the mosaic. Start anywhere; every card leads to someone's story.
Listen as you go. On many participant pages, tap the purple ♪ to hear a preview of the song connected to that story. For a longer listen, press play on Purple Current, the free all-Prince stream from The Current, Minnesota Public Radio.
Step into the rooms. Exhibition views show the work as it hung at Roberts Gallery and the Capri, with ColorWheel view to come.
The archive is alive and will keep growing. It's our home between exhibitions, until we gather in person again. Your Prince story belongs here too: we'll open the archive for new stories soon.
In Minneapolis this weekend? Head to the Capri!

While the archive opens online, one of the museum's works is back on a wall in North Minneapolis. Purple Rain, Bethany Tobias's portrait of Prince, made entirely of pennies and generously gifted to the museum after our June exhibition, is on view at the Capri Theater for André Cymone's concert on Saturday, October 3. Scan the label to read Bethany's story in the Living Archive.
Save the date: an online community gathering, Thursday, October 29, 7pm Minneapolis time. A celebration of the season and of everyone who made it. The link will be on our Events page soon.
Event pages are on their way to the archive. Until then, relive our Northside Gathering and our Closing Day celebrations.
Thank you to every participant, artist and collaborator. Artworks courtesy of the contributors.
Enjoy!
