From Minneapolis to Melbourne..
Dearly Beloved is screening in Melbourne!
Writing in the afterglow of the People's Museum for Prince June edition, presented in Minneapolis across 3 venues — 70 participants from 7 countries, a full month of joyful programming and welcoming visitors from all over the world.
We are delighted to announce the Australian premiere at Melbourne Documentary Film Festival Sunday July 12 at Cinema Nova.
Dearly Beloved tells a personal story of grief, love and transformation, in the form of pilgrimage to Minneapolis in the wake of Prince's passing. Filmed over 9 years, it traces a journey to all Prince's houses in Minnesota, as the narrator searches for Prince Rogers Nelson after he is gone, and finds something unexpected.
It's special to bring this film back to my home town and to a city where there is so much love for Prince.
Dearly Beloved screens at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival — Sunday, July 12, Cinema Nova, in the Music Shorts program alongside Jimmy Somerville: Smalltown Boy at 3:45pm. Q&A with filmmakers.
JOIN THE FILMMAKER for coffee Sunday July 12, 2:30pm. A casual Prince-inspired gathering! Everyone is welcome to a pre-film coffee meet up at Brunetti's cafe, Carlton. Just show up, or drop us a note if you can make it and we can share more. exhibition@peoplesmuseumforprince.org

MINNEAPOLIS SEASON- WRAP-UP & UPDATES
The People's Museum just wrapped our June 2026 season across 3 venues in Minneapolis. Thank you to everyone who participated and visited! It was a dream to welcome so many people from all around the world to share love of Prince through the exhibitions and the many program offerings.
Our programs included Prince's community birthday party on opening day, walking tours of Prince's North Minneapolis, a community Memory Day which served as a Prince school friends' reunion, and a day of family art activities. Closing day included a special gathering on Prince and Spirituality with theologian Pamela Ayo Yetunde sharing from the teachings in her book Dearly Beloved and an afternoon of Prince music (thank you, Manny and Terry!) to see us home.
