Call for Participation

The People's Museum for Prince celebrates Prince in all his dimensions.
We commemorate ten years since Prince's passing with a community-sourced exhibition opening June 7, 2026 (Prince's birthday) in North Minneapolis, his childhood neighborhood.
This is your invitation to help shape a collective portrait of Prince's global impact.
While official archives document Prince's monumental achievements—his songwriting, recordings, and performances—your stories and art capture how Prince touched people's lives around the world. As time passes, these memories become irreplaceable historical testimony

APRIL 21, 2016/2026 MEMORY ARCHIVE
Where were you when Prince died?
We're collecting photos, videos, stories, and artifacts from April 21, 2016 and the days that followed—spontaneous memorials, community gatherings, personal grief rituals. Ten years later, we also welcome your reflections on what this moment meant.
What we're gathering:
-
Photos from Paisley Park fence, First Avenue, memorial sites
-
Stories of how you heard the news and what you did
-
Videos or audio recordings from that time
-
Objects you kept from the memorials
Your contributions preserve this historic moment of collective mourning.
HOUSES OF PRINCE
Prince's Minneapolis, 1958-2026.
Houses of Prince is an ongoing research project exploring how place shaped Prince's life and art. We're gathering stories & artifacts connected to his houses and his neighborhoods —from his birth hospital to childhood homes to Paisley Park.
We want to hear from:
-
Neighbors, past and present, and local residents—did you grow up on his block, or live there now?
-
Pilgrims who've visited any of Prince's houses.
-
Anyone with photos, urban legends, or random Prince encounters to share!
What to share: Pilgrimage photos and experiences, neighborhood photos, memories & stories.
→ Explore Houses of Prince project page for inspiration.
Community contributions will be featured in our June 2026 exhibition and contribute to long-term preservation of community memory.
