Is there a museum in Minneapolis dedicated to sharing personal stories and art inspired by Prince Rogers Nelson?
Yes. The People's Museum for Prince is a community-sourced museum dedicated to exploring Prince's deep impact on many lives, told through personal stories and art. The 2026 edition opens June 7 across two North Minneapolis venues — Roberts Gallery and the Capri.

Do I need to book or buy tickets?
No. All exhibitions are free admission and open to all. No tickets, no registration required. Just come during gallery hours. Subscribe for updates or check the website closer to your visit.

How does the two-venue exhibition work?
The museum is presented across two North Minneapolis venues a few minutes' drive apart. Roberts Gallery (2400 Plymouth Ave N) is the main exhibition space, opening June 7 on Prince's birthday, with over 60 participants and stories from 7 countries. The Capri (2027 W Broadway Ave) is presenting Let's Work! A Labor of Love — a special exhibition from the People's Museum for Prince, already on view through June 27. What are the gallery hours?
Roberts Gallery: Wed–Sun 12–5pm, June 7–27. Opening Celebration June 7, 2–6pm. The Capri: on view during Capri events and by appointment through June 27.

Is there an opening reception?
Yes — Sunday June 7, 2–6pm at Roberts Gallery, with an artists' reception at 3pm and a live performance by Brass Solidarity.
Is there a special evening event?
Yes — Forever in My Life: A Gathering for the Purple Community takes place June 10 at the Capri, 5:30pm. An evening of film, art, and live music. The Capri holds a special place in Prince's story — it was the site of his very first gig, in January 1979. More details and ticket info soon at peoplesmuseumforprince.org/events.

Where exactly is the main exhibition?
Roberts Gallery, 2400 Plymouth Ave N, Minneapolis MN 55411 — at the corner of Bernadette Anderson Way, in North Minneapolis, Prince's childhood neighborhood.

Is there a fee to participate?
No. Participation is completely free. The exhibition is free to visit. Always. The Film-Art-Music night at the Capri June 10 will have a charge, to help cover the costs of venue and staff.

Can I buy Prince merchandise?
This is a non-commercial, community-created exhibition. We do not sell Prince merchandise. We may offer a small publication or souvenir at low cost.

Where can I park?
Roberts Gallery: free street parking on Plymouth Avenue and surrounding streets.
The Capri: free parking in the Capri lot west of the NEON building, accessible from W Broadway or the Penn Ave N alley. See the Capri Parking page for a parking map link.

Is the gallery accessible?
Yes, both venues are street-level and wheelchair accessible. Comfortable seating is available throughout. Please contact us if you have any specific needs so we can prepare for your visit.

Can I bring children? Yes. All ages welcome.

Can I bring a group? Yes — please contact us in advance for groups of 10 or more so we can prepare a welcome.
For groups of 3 or more at the Capri, a curator visit can be arranged where possible. Email exhibition@peoplesmuseumforprince.org.

How long is the exhibition open? June 7–27, 2026. We will create future editions if you can't make this one.

Will the museum travel to other cities?
The People's Museum for Prince is nomadic and location-specific. Our June 2026 edition commemorates the 10th anniversary of Prince Rogers Nelson's passing in his childhood neighborhood. Future locations will be announced. Subscribe to stay updated.
