"She wore a raspberry beret, the kind you find in a second-hand store" — Prince, Raspberry Beret, 1985

One week until we install at Roberts Gallery. The Capri exhibition is up and looking beautiful — see some glimpses below. Today we announce our Southside satellite partner and share a feature article just published.
This week, Southwest Voices journalist Jill Boogren published a deeply researched, thoughtful article on the People's Museum for Prince — and we're grateful to be part of a southside story.
The People's Museum's main sites in 2026 are in North Minneapolis, where Prince grew up. But the Southside claims Prince just as strongly. He went to school at Bryant Junior High and Central High, and lived with his Aunt Olivia here for a time. His first apartment was in South Minneapolis. Moon Sound Studios is here. He was married at Park Avenue Church.
That's why we're honoured to have ColorWheel Gallery (319 W 46th St) as our Southside Satellite partner.
Tammy Ortegon has been making Prince-inspired art and welcoming Prince visitors to her vibrant community gallery for years. Her space carries that same spirit of love, colour, and community that runs through everything we're trying to do. Tammy has generously offered us space to show some selections from the People's Museum, including a Prince quilt, paintings, and photography. You can read Tammy's Prince story here and see her work at both Colorwheel and at Roberts Gallery as part of the People's Museum.
Visit the People's Museum satellite exhibition at ColorWheel now through June 27 — and if you're on the southside on Friday June 6, Tammy is hosting a Prince coloring party. Details at ColorWheel Gallery on Facebook.
The main exhibition opens June 7 at Roberts Gallery, 2400 Plymouth Ave N — at the corner of Bernadette Anderson Way — in North Minneapolis. Free admission. peoplesmuseumforprince.org
A reminder the Capri exhibition Let's Work: A Labor of Love is up now. The June 6 Capri Arts Festival is a great day to experience it — visit The Capri for exhibition hours and details.
We look forward to welcoming you to the People's Museum at one or all of our three sites this June!
